Assessments

Sage Transitions uses High Potential Trait Inventory (HPTI), or other personality or emotional intelligence assessments to help evaluate candidates. Matching a new internal or external recruit, both in personality and technical skills, enhances success.

HPTI is our premier leadership assessment instrument. HPTI has been proven internationally to predict leadership potential across industries and sectors. Organizations may use individual and team leadership HPTI assessments with current and future high potential leaders.

Leadership Training & Development

Leaders and their organization want customized training and development that fits their culture, systems and processes. We provide these supports to teams, leaders and emerging leaders who want to learn face-to-face, online, or a combination of both. When team members better understand their own leadership potential, emotional intelligence and how they work with others, customized training has a much better chance of success.

Strengthening Succession Planning

If you ask organizations about the biggest challenge in leadership development, succession planning is at the top of the list. How do you find the right match for leaders as they start their journey from supervisor to senior leader? How do you recruit externally, and match the new hire both in personality and technical skills? Leadership succession planning is many faceted, and we provide tools, processes and evaluation measures to build and enhance succession planning.


case: manufacturing

WESTERN CANADA

The vice-president of a large manufacturing company wanted to have each member of the senior leadership team understand their strengths, weaknesses and leadership potential. He decided that HPTI was the best fit for this purpose, and for their organizational and team culture. Each person completed an assessment, participated in an individual discussion about their HPTI results, and received a coaching and development report. Ian MacRae, Director, Workplace Psychology and Research, developed a customized team HPTI report to highlight team traits and behaviours, and identify gaps in leadership capacity. The company found the results insightful and informative, and are using HPTI as part of the selection process for leaders at all levels of their organization.

case: cannabis industry

BRITISH COLUMBIA, CANADA

A fast-growing agricultural company wanted to add another way of evaluating a top candidate for a senior leadership position. The CEO had previously completed an HPTI assessment and was impressed with the validity and utility of the report. He wanted to use HPTI in the selection of a new senior leadership team member. The top candidate completed the review, and discussed his results with Heather Stewart. Heather prepared a detailed report of the discussion which was shared with the candidate and the CEO. The company found that the HPTI report mirrored their findings, identified some new information, and provided sufficient detail for them to confirm the job offer to their new senior leader.

case: not-for-profit

CENTRAL OKANAGAN, BC CANADA

An Executive Director of a medium sized not-for-profit was very interested in using the HPTI as he was relatively new to the organization. He wanted to better understand his board and employees, and build a strategic plan based on this knowledge. He could clearly see the advantages of using HPTI to discuss individual and group leadership traits. The board and staff were high functioning, and there were myriad opportunities to fine tune individual, committee and employee performance. Sage Transitions completed HPTI assessments with each individual. This provided great insight into individual leadership traits. The customized HPTI team report was used to facilitate a team development session, and as a foundation in developing the strategic plan.

case: team training & development

NORTH AMERICA

Thomas International, Canada/US wanted to train their senior facilitators/trainers on the High Potential Trait Indicator (HPTI). Heather Stewart and Ian MacRae provided a customized “train the trainer” session for the launch of HPTI in North America. The session included a range of case studies, discussions about market opportunities and ways to use HPTI with other Thomas assessments. Thomas was very pleased with the results of the session, and the participant evaluations were very positive.
